ARTIST FEATURE/ALBUM REVIEW by Mark Finlay

Feral Conservatives - Breaks and Mends (2012, self-released)

First listened: 2014

Feral Conservatives is an indie rock duo consisting of Rashie Rosenfab (vocals, mandolin, bass) and Matt Francis (guitar, drums, organ). Out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, the group self-released their debut LP, Breaks and Mends, recorded at Vermont’s Verdant Studio, in November 2012. Made unique in part, but not only, by their extensive use of the mandolin, the Ferals create a sound that ranges from the fuzziness of Sonic Youth to the fun Americana folk sound of fellow indie act The Lumineers.
